Plurk Karma - Why Stop the Fun at 50?
In Plurk when you reach 50 on the karma scale and get the latest upgrades; the fun just sorta stops. Sadly there are no more background colors, plurk buddies, emoticons, fun new stuff…
One area that could definitely use an upgrade is the ways to express yourself. Would be nice if your choices increased in accordance with your karma. A few suggestions off the top of my head include admits, dislikes, wonders, found, eat, yells, hears etc… Also maybe give users a greater ability to talk past tense?
Please join the discussion on this plurk page.
Plurk users with 50+ karma are the most dedicated users of the network. Shouldn’t they be rewarded for their continued positive contributions to the community?

I personally feel that Karma is overrated. It is nice that the more Karma you have you recieve new features but at what expense? I have seen way too many “this or that?” posts that really just turn me off and make me not want to respond. Plurk is all about conversation and if Karma rewarded that more it would be an OK system. As for now, my thoughts are that Karma is semi-broke and needs to be fixed before the over 50 K crowd gets any more new features.
I would however love to see more in the way of qualifier verbs. I had a thread with quite a few suggestions started already. Here is that page. It is a few extra suggestions on the road to a better Plurk.
Thanks for all you guys do and keep up the hard work.

Thoughtwrong’s last blog post..Plearch anyone?
Thrughtwrong ^ Yes Plurk is meant for conversations and meeting new people. But the goal of karma is something that keeps people coming back. Just like a game on addicting games. They are huge because the games they have are ones with goals and after a while you cant put it away for the sake of getting to the next level. (I.e like 50 karma)
On the fact that it all stops at 50 is like…a huge bummer. You worked so hard to get there…and yet there is nothing to keep you wanting more. I mean yes there is your friends list and everythign else…you take away the karma…it’s pretty much just like another Micro blogging site (I.e Twitter, Pownce, Jaiku ect.) and that’s why people love Plurk, it’s not like the others it’s turned into more of a game. ^_^ Making it more friendlier than the others. Everywhere you turn you see people talking ” WOW the people on plurk are so much nicer” well gee….it’s a game where you need your friends. Like team work ^_^ I would LOVE more ways to express myself in future, past and more in present tense that would be a GRRAATT idear!!
